Don't you love it when you just *know* something inside and out?

I got a call the other day from someone who I have never worked with before.  He called and sounded like he was confused, even in a panic, and needed help fast.

I heard him say something about a PIX, with a VPN and certain servers couldn't reach other hosts, and access from the internet to these servers was not working.. it was all jumbled together.

After listening to him for a few minutes, he finally asked if I would be willing to help.  He told me the situation was urgent!

I calmy asked him a few questions to get to the real issue at hand.

He explained everything to the best of his ability and with that I was able to quickly drill down to the root issue that was being encountered.

I told him I would be glad to help and gave him my normal bill rate for PIX Firewall consulting work.

At this point to him, the price was not an issue at all.  He needed relief.  And he needed it fast.

I cleared off a spot on my calendar and quickly got down to business.  It was a quick and easy fix.

I called the guy back, told him we were done and that everything was working fine. You would have thought a ton of bricks just fell off his shoulders.
